“Can’t read mine, can’t read mine… no he can’t read my Poker Face.” Lady Gaga got it right when she sang about how poker faces should be impossible to read! So the tough part – the poker face. If you don’t have it, you will lose a lot of money. Of course, we use the term “poker face” loosely to imply your entire body language. That being said however, it is a good idea to use hoodies and sunglasses until you have mastered the art of the poker face.

Of course, this would be hard if one didn’t have the right set up – the chips, the money, and fancy professional poker tables. The most important thing to remember is consistency – to always act the same no matter what hand you are dealt. Your opponent will be looking out for signs that say you are nervous, bluffing, or happy with what you’ve got. Try to develop a consistency when it comes to dealing with the aforementioned scenarios. This will keep your opponent guessing.

That being said, don’t try to use reverse psychology either! Acting sad when you actually have good cards can only work once – your opponent is sure to catch on if you use it again!

Speaking of opponents – be sure to always maintain eye contact! The good players know to tell when the eyes are lying, so look him/her straight in the eye each time and show them that you’re not afraid – no matter what hand you’re dealt!
